The 2026 Halloween Trivia Demand Report

The 2026 Halloween Trivia Demand Report

What America searches, what it can't find answers to, and what it's wearing this Halloween — told from three Octobers of real store data. Halloween 2026 falls on Saturday, October 31. Built by Cheap Trivia from our own order history (Octobers 2024–2026), the National Retail Federation's 2026 Halloween survey (7,889 U.S. consumers), and Google's Frightgeist 2026 costume rankings. Published October 16, 2026.

Finding 1 — The money peaks the week BEFORE Halloween

October store sales: $29.97 in 2024 → $292.88 in 2025 → $291.97 in the first 16 days of 2026 alone (Shopify order history, pulled Oct 16, 2026). In 2025 the top week was Oct 20–26 ($105.96) — then sales fell during Halloween week itself. Hosts buy before the party week, not during it. The 2026 selling window is open right now and closes around Oct 26.

Finding 2 — Spooky-adjacent outsells Halloween-branded, five to one

Last October, our Harry Potter shelf (Easy, Medium, Hard, Expert, Hogwarts Houses) made $74.98 across 6 orders. Our Halloween Trivia Night Theme Pack made $14.99 — one copy, the same single copy it sells every October. Our entire Halloween line is two products: one $15 pack and one free question set. The free set is our most-ordered Halloween item every year (2 orders in 2024, 2 in 2025, 4 in the first half of this October). The full report maps the gap: no tiers, no kids' pack, no horror-movie pack — and the fresh 2026 costumes nobody's question bank covers yet.

Finding 3 — The 2026 costume wave is brand-new horror

Google Frightgeist 2026 (released Oct 14, 2026), top 5 trending costumes: 1. Buddy the Unicorn (horror film "Buddy"), 2. NeeDoh (viral squishy toy), 3. Nikki (horror film "Obsession"), 4. Agamemnon ("The Odyssey"), 5. Lily Love Braids ("Poppy Playtime"). Michael Jackson "Thriller" costume searches are at a 10-year high. None of the new properties existed in any trivia pack written before this fall. The full report carries the complete top-10 and kids' top-10 tables, with notes for question writers.
