About Christmas Vacation Trivia
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation released December 1, 1989. Directed by Jeremiah Chechik with screenplay by John Hughes (Home Alone, Ferris Bueller). Third installment of the National Lampoon Vacation series. Chevy Chase reprises Clark Griswold; Beverly D'Angelo as Ellen; Juliette Lewis + Johnny Galecki as the kids; Randy Quaid as Cousin Eddie; Christie Brinkley as the lingerie model; Brian Doyle-Murray as boss Frank Shirley. Made $73M box office. Now considered the #1 Christmas comedy of all time per multiple critic polls.
Iconic scenes: Clark stringing up 25,000 light bulbs across the Griswold house; the cat-electrocution and squirrel-in-the-tree chaos; Cousin Eddie's RV parked on the street; the underwhelming 'bonus' that turns out to be a Jelly of the Month Club membership; Clark's profanity-laden tirade about his boss. Memorable quotes: 'Why is the carpet all wet, Todd?' / 'I don't know, Margo' — 'Hallelujah! Holy shit! Where's the Tylenol?' — 'The jelly of the month club is the gift that keeps on giving the whole year.'
